Common Questions

Q: Are adjustments only performed by Chiropractors?

A: No, Chiropractors have specialized training in adjustment procedures and over 90% of all adjustments performed are done by Doctors of Chiropractic.  However, Doctors of Osteopathy and some Medical Doctors perform adjustments as well.

Q: Do all Chiropractors do the same thing?

A: No, in fact there are over a hundred very different Chiropractic techniques.  In addition, many Chiropractors will have a specific focus whether it be pain and injury, wellness care, pediatrics, ect.

Q: So which technique is used in this office?

A: The technique used in our office is called the Gonstead Chiropractic Technique.  It is the most complete method of biomechanical analysis available for use by todays doctors of Chiropractic.  The training is extensive and is in addition to the normal Chiropractic curriculum.  Only about 5% of all the Chiropractors in the world have taken the time and dedication to master this technique.

Q: Are x-rays necessary?

A: Yes, in most cases and for many reasons.  An x-ray may be used to rule out rare, but possible, life threatening pathologies that present as back pain. They also allow us to diagnose fractures, ligament instability, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, structural misalignments, various forms of arthritis and infections, as well as many other conditions that present to our office.  The use of x-rays also enable us to track and monitor the health of your spine over time.

Q: I heard that once you go to a Chiropractor you will have to go for the rest of your life, is this true?

A: This question needs some clarification.  A person does not go to their family physican because they are sick, get treated, then expect to never get sick again.  A person also cannot go to the dentist for a teeth cleaning once and expect to never need to get their teeth cleaned again.  Chiropractic is no different.  Patients may get re-injured requiring them to come back.  Some patients may need occasional maintenance care depending on their condition.  Nonetheless, we only want to see patients when we have to.  We get our patients well and keep them well, that is why they choose to return.
